Extra Credit / Participation Points

In my classes, I will often recommend campus and community events relevant to class. Students can choose to attend a one-hour event and write up a one-paged single-spaced summary/analysis, usually for ten participation points (equivalent to a study guide or in-class exercise).

Your write-up should summarize the event or speaker’s main argument, offer an analysis of how the event relates to the class, and if possible, make suggestions about how the event could be improved.

Write-ups are due in class within one week of the event. Be sure to label your paper with name, class/section, date, and event title. Students may write up no more than three events per semester. Please be aware that Canvas will show Extra Credit received, but the points will NOT be added until the end of the semester.
